Community Efforts

        HealthCare and Life Sciences

BioPathways is supporting efforts in the newly formed Semantic Web for HealthCare and Life Sciences Interest Group (HCLSIG) at W3C.  BPC will acknowledge and utilize resources (wherever possible) based on W3C's Semantic Web technologies: RDF, OWL, SPARQL, and Rules. These will become powerful enablers of the larger life sciences research communities.  Disclaimer: This reference to the W3C HCLS Interest Group does not imply endorsement by either the W3C Staff or the participants of the Interest Group, nor does it guarantee that the Interest Group will agree to any BioPathways Consortium activities or proposals.

        Pathways Database Integration

BioPAX  BioPAX is a community based effort created to enable sharing of pathway information, such as signal transduction, metabolic and gene regulatory pathways through the creation of a standard data exchange format. Contact  biopax-discuss@biopax.org for more information or visit the BioPAX website www.biopax.org and wiki at www.biopaxwiki.org.

       OWL and BioOntologies

The CO-ODE and HyOntUse projects aim to provide support for communities interested in OWL by developing materials, enhancing tools, and looking at some of the theoretical problems to help form usable solutions before big problems arise.
